Bryson Andrew Horton
Welcome to Bryson's site!
Bryson was born on June 4th 2008 as a healthy beautiful blue eyed baby boy . In March of 2009 he came down with cold like symptoms. We went back and fourth to the doctor twice, then two days later, on March 14th 2009 we rushed him to Texas Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with MLL- rearrangement at the age of 9mths old.
Bryson is a true little fighter and has shown us all that strength comes in all sizes. Bryson was due to be done with all his treatments in May 2010, when the news of his relapse literally turned our world upside down once again. He will be going through the transplant process with cord blood starting August 2, 2010. He will have 4 days of full body radiation as well as 4 days of intensive chemo then 1 rest day and on August 12 he will start transplant, then we wait for the donor cells to engraft.
Due to many side effects that can occur we will be in the hospital for up to 40 days and that is just the minimum. Like I heard one mother say after transplant "the leukemia is only half the battle". This process is not going to be easy on Bryson and as for his parents and family watching him go through this it is going to be tough. He is amazing to say the least, he grabs attention where ever we go and touches people's hearts.
He is the reason our life is filled with so much joy, his laughter is contagious but his fight for living is what is truly amazing, at the age of 2 he has seen more of a hospital than anyone should, he has had more tests, transfusions and been on more medicines than we can even count and yet he smiles, he shines and he is living life as a "normal" toddler. We love him more than words can say and we pray as well ask for prayers for his fight to overcome this battle that has been his life.

1 year later post BMT, God is good!!!
August 12, 2011
What a year this has been, last year at this time we were getting prepared for Bryson's BMT, anxious about it all and hoping, praying that this would give our little boy a new life without Cancer. The picture to the left is 1 year ago today and the picture below is just yesterday, what a site to see is our child excel with this new start and a fiery little 3 year old he is. This year he has learned to walk all by himself and at times is running, jumping, becoming the toddler that we know and love. He is the sweetest little kid I know and he melts our hearts daily!!

My Purpose
I have cancer. There isn't an explanation as to why I became sick. All I know is God has a plan for each of us and for each plan there is a purpose. Some of us know what our purpose in life is and others will never find it. Then there are those like me who accomplish it without ever realizing it.
My journey with cancer will not and has not been without purpose. It is through my illness that I have helped doctors understand this disease a little more so they may find a cure. It is through my illness that I have opened the eyes to those around me to how precious life really is. Something we all to often take for granted. It is through my illness that some of those around me have realized that life is too short to be afraid of our feelings.
My cancer has been beaten back by the power of love. It is the most powerful of emotions, one not to be afraid of, but to be embraced. To be loved by someone unconditionally and completely is to reach into your soul and feel warmth. It is through my illness that I have shown there is no guarantee for the future--only dreams for it.
Whether the future is just another day or another 75 years, we should all dream big and live fully everyday. It is through my illness that I have seen the strong cry, only to find more strength. It is through my illness that some of us who haven't talked to God in a while have once again begun to pray. It is through my illness that I have joined the hands of those familiar to those of strangers, to form one long chain. I have already accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and each day I continue to touch the hearts of many.
That is my purpose
