Poor Bryson 08/30/2010

DAD-
We have been Moved to PICU "Pediatric Intensive Care Unit". He started vomiting last night and has continued today. His heart rate, respirations, and blood pressure is very high. His Oxygen levels are low so he has been put on Oxygen. He has heart problem called "Diastolic Dysfunction" and that means his heart valve is not working correctly. We will likely be moved tomorrow to Cardiac ICU. The condition is very rare as we are told leave it to Bryson to keep the DR's on their toes.
He was given a medicine to relax his heart and see if that lowers his blood pressure. The condition is caused from the combination of Chemo and Radiation.

Even though we are in ICU , Bryson is a fighter and was still cheering on the Astro's , clapping and saying "Ball Ball" but got wore out quick. His spirit is still high even if it's 10-15 minutes at a time.

Positive note- His bone marrow appears to be engrafting and his ANC is 1550.

PLease pray for Bryson!

YAY!! 08/27/2010

Bryson's ANC is 790 today which is beyond awesome, his nose is still running so they did another nose test not fun for him at all. Then Monday see the engrafting and what percent donor he is. This kid is truly something else, amazes me everyday blessed to be his mommy!! Things are going really good, thank you all for all the prayers!!

The doctors just came in and said that today was day 1 in counts being over 500, which means two more days of over 500 and we might be able to go home all depending on the engraftment results on Monday and nasal results.  He still has a long way to go but this so far is wonderful news.  They are also decresing his IV nutrition to get him to eat something and make him hungery.

Thanks again to you all and continue those prayers!!

Steph, Tim and Bryson

Well today's ANC count has gone up to 260 another YAY!!  He has been whiny for the past couple of days but today he seems to be feeling alot better driving us crazy but we would rather him feel good and do that than not feel good at all.  Yesterday he had to get blood and platelets, so the platelets were done before he awoke and then blood was around 6PM.  Well Tim decided to go home and do some laundry, well about 8PM just when his blood was almost done Bryson landed his knee right on the line and it pulled the access to the portacath.  Well my quick thinking I clamped the line and then paused the machine as blood was dripping out of his portacath and waved frantically for the nurse to notice me in the window.  So they then had to re-access him to heplock it, so that was done quickly.  Well about 20 minutes last I am on the phone with my mom and I look over and Bryson has blood on his arm, I said what in the world told my mom I would call her back.  I lifted his new cars pj shirt and the bandaid that they cover his port with was covered in blood and kind of dripping.  Then again had to get the nurse, they said because he just got the transfusion that it was still in the port just coming out, so gauze and tape it was and within 15 minutes more gauze and tape.  After that it was fine just a little bruised, I told Tim, he will not leave ever again..LOL

Bryson has been pretty content not being able to leave the room, he has his little DVD  player changes DVDs every 2 minutes, he colors, watches baseball with us and keeps us quite entertained to say the least, oh he also loves sitting up in the window  watching the people and cars go by, closet thing to outside since August 2.  This kid is something else, amazes us every day you wouldn’t know that he has had all this to deal with since he was 9 months old.  They took blood today to check on the engrafting and we will find out those results on Monday, we are hoping for female donor cells that’s what the cord blood was from a female, doesn’t mean he will turn into a female just certain cells will show female weird but whatever keeps our baby boy cancer free works for us.  Please pray that Mondays results are wonderful.

We will be busy tomorrow as well as the benefit on Saturday.  My mom and Doreen have done such an awesome job with it all.  Also to all of you that have contributed to it as well, thank you all.

Please come out, have fun, eat and donate blood for a wonderful cause:

Looking good.. 08/22/2010

Well he had fevers since Thursday night but hasnt had a fever since yesterday morning.  The doctors said that it is probably due to the engrafting taking place so they started him on GCSF to help boost up his immune system.  He started to get a rash on both cheeks similair to what he had last year, they also believe that is due to the engrafting so praying that his counts are going up.  He has been in a pretty good mood, dancing, laughing and just playing.  He still has a bit of a runny nose but he has been put on allergy meds to help with that.

Other than that we wait for counts to hopefully go up this week, so things are looking really good right now.  We will find out tomorrow if he needs the CAT scan, they said since the fevers have subsided it may not be neccessary but they will let us know in the morning.

We will be having a blood drive and benefit August 28th check the benefits page for all the details and location. Come out and have fun we will have a moonwalk, face painting, balloon animals, hotdogs, nachos and cookies.  We will also be selling Bryson Rocks bracelets.  Also will have several raffels going on!!!  We will also have the Gulf Coast blood donor charter out to donate blood!!

Thank you all for the continued support!!

Bryson is doing very well, he is getting IVIG to help with his immune system hhis counts are still 0 but hoping this helps them go up.  He will get more platelets tomorrow and we are hoping we get the reults of his nasal test he has a little of a runny nose and they want to make sure that its nothing.  Overall he is still in good spirits not really eating so still on IV nutrition and still has the rash which looks like a sunburn but getting better.  Praying counts go up!!

With love,
Steph, Tim and Bryson

Transplant started at 12PM and lasted 45 minutes, he slept before the transfusion but during it was awake and very alert playing and jabbering.  He then started to smell like cream corn, its something that comes from the stem cells that causes the smell.  T

Well Bryson is off all the monitors and is truly amazing (not just saying that because I am his mom), the nurses are all impressed with him, he has been playing, eating, drinking, laughing, acting crazy, watching the wiggles and talking up a storm.  Now we just wait for whats to come and pray that he continues to feel well.  The doctors say one thing and he does the opposite of what they say, he has always been that way, he is surely a tough little guy and we are so very proud of him.  Please continue those prayers as we wait for the stem cells to engraft.  Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!!

Well yesterday Bryson started not feeling well, he is had started to form some sort of rash on his butt do to the chemo and he hasn’t ate anything since Monday morning and even then it wasn't much.  He woke up this morning talking and wanting to color which we were glad to see but other than that he just wants to lay around and relax and that’s what he needs to rest.

The doctors informed us that the transplant will be taking place around noon tomorrow and he will be hooked up to all the monitors up until 4 hours after the transplant which only takes about 45 minutes if that long.  So many emotions are going on in this hospital room but we know that he is in good hands and we will be here with him through it all.  They also informed us that it could take up to 2 months for him to be engrafted so more time in here and both of us not working but if that’s what it takes for him to be rid of cancer and feeling better than that’s what it will take.

We know that he will be okay we get that part but the part that hurts us is seeing him hurting, he shouldn't have to go through this and yes we are glad that he is too little to understand it all but honestly no matter the age CANCER is still horrible and soo unfair. As parents we want to make things better its just in our nature but when you are in a situation that there is not much you can do you feel soo torn up about it and try to wrap your finger around it all but at the end of the day I turn to GOD because he knows what is going on here and he has been here through all this.  Seen this saying the other day, “Let go and Let GOD!!

So as we move on to tomorrow, a new birthday for Bryson I want to thank you all for the support, prayers and all the love that has been sent our way.  It helps us to know that we have soo many of you who are thinking of our little man on a daily basis as well as us.
